In a CNN News, Democratic Presidential nominee Joe Biden met with the family of Jacob Blake, a black guy who was shot by the police seven times and is now paralyzed from the waist down.
He said he had spoken to Blake by phone on Thursday, September 3.
“He talked about how nothing was going to defeat him. How whether he walked again or not, he was not going to give up,” speaking from Kenosha, Wisconsin, the site of the shooting. Some local political leaders, law enforcers, and religious and non-profit organization heads were also present.
Many Republicans are posting their sentiments on social media, asking if the former vice president also asked Blake about his sexual assault victim. Some ask why he is sympathizing with a criminal.
For those who are closely following this case, many might have read contradicting stories of what really happened that night when Blake was shot – from his family, the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), and the Kenosha Professional Police Association.
Claims on the night of shooting by different parties
The Kenosha Professional Police Association claims Jacob Blake forcefully fought the police officers who were trying to subdue him. Instead, he tried to get a knife from his car. According to the police, they arrived at the scene because they received a call from a woman saying Blake was attempting to steal her keys and vehicle.
Blake’s fiancée, Lakisha Booker, who (according to the police), called them, is saying otherwise. She said she didn’t call the police officers and not sure why they were even there. Booker claimed they shot her fiancé and also threatened to kill her, without knowing her kids were in the car. She also insists they don’t own a knife, either a gun.
On the other hand, the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), which is the one in charge for the investigation, is asserting that the police officers arrived because a woman was complaining “her boyfriend was present and was not supposed to be on the premises.”
While the investigation is ongoing, all the police officers involved are on administrative leave.
Jacob Blake’s past criminal record
When the incident caught the media’s attention, many citizens posted their opinions on the matter, and then Blake’s previous misconduct surfaced. Records show that he, indeed, had a warrant of arrest filed in July in Kenosha County for allegedly entering the house of a woman, whom he had known earlier in the morning, took her debit card and car keys, and fled with her car. He was charged with felony third-degree sexual assault, misdemeanor trespassing, and disorderly conduct. The case is pending at the moment.
Why would the DCI say that Booker called when she said she didn’t? The police also claimed she called. In the first place, why would they be there? Did they know that Blake was there? Somebody must be lying, and as long as the investigation is not manipulated, the truth will come out.
While it is not fair to judge a person’s character by his past criminal records, that shows a part of his beliefs that could push him on how to behave in the future. Unless he changed in a month, then perhaps Jacob Blake is innocent.
Joe Biden’s double standard
On Saturday, August 29, 2020, at past 8 PM, police officers heard gun fires at the Southeast 3rd Avenue and Southwest Alder Street in Portland. They quickly responded and saw a victim who was shot on the chest. Later, he was declared dead by medical respondents who also arrived at the scene.
After a few days, the Police identified the suspect as Michael Reinoehl who is a confessed Antifa member. He was killed during the arrest.
The victim, whose alias was Jay Bishop was a member of the far-right Portland group. His real name was later on revealed as Aaron “Jay” Danielson.
So, what was happening that night?
According to the news, two events were happening at the same time at that point. The 94th consecutive day of protests in the city against racism and police brutality following George Floyd’s killing, and Trump supporters’ rally. Apparently, it was for the acceptance of Donald Trump’s nomination and condemning the unrest in “Democrat-run Portland.”
A few days later, Joe Biden campaigned in Wilmington, Delaware. In his speech, he again accused the president of failing to address the chaos in the country – COVID-19, economic turbulence, violence, police brutality, and claimed he couldn’t do the job of a president.
He narrated Trump’s failures and vowed he has plans for all of these.
And then he started talking about the Portland incident, calling the victim a “Trump guy.” If he sympathizes with all Americans, as he always claims, who have lost a loved one, isn’t it dehumanizing to call a dead person with names? So, now that a Trump supporter is killed, he suddenly doesn’t care knowing his name, but when a Democrat is killed, they become heroes?
He always attacks Trump on his interviews and social media, saying the president is not fit to lead the country. He follows it with how he would fix the administration’s failures.
The pain of losing family members is immeasurable, but it appears that he is using his family’s tragedy when he lost his first wife and children to gain sympathy.
